HOLIDAY VILLA Hotel &Resort KARUIZAWA

The villa was nice but dated. It could use an upgrade but it was a bigger place for our group which was great. The beds were not very comfortable but that's just the way it is in Japan. All the extra facilities are closed in the winter.

It’s more of a summer chalet so it was really cold in winter in the toilets. But they were very kind to give us an extra heater in there. Thank you so much. We loved that we had snow all around us and our kids played in the woods and snow all day. There was no snow in Karuizawa and it only snowed at higher altitudes where we were so we felt lucky. The house was very clean and we had a lot of towels.

i am expecting to use the swimming pool since i am traveling with my 2 kids & its summer so swimming was our main but suddenly it was not available ?

Nearly all facilities were closed, only open for summer (being late May when I stayed) - no restaurant open in the hotel, sauna and pool closed.

Breakfast was generous and excellent in terms of quality and quantity. Part of the breakfast included a salad buffet. This was delicious and much welcomed. Owners of the hotel extremely friendly and proactive in helping arrangements for our stay!

Large cottage, clean and quiet.

Surroundings don’t look great with abandoned and collapsed cottages. Value for money isn’t great as it is pay per person while service doesn’t really change beside more towels provided when more persons are joining.

We like the strategic location to the ski or snowboarding area (Karuizawa) and it is very close drive to Karuizawa downtown.

The kitchen is a bit outdated and needs to be refurnished.

Nice and peaceful area for a relaxed family vacation. The staffs were very friendly and helped us with pick up from Karuizawa station. From a bus stop near the hotel, we can catch an express bus that goes directly to Kusatsu Onsen (around 1 hour), so we can enjoy both Kusatsu and Karuizawa. The grilled apple at the lobby is nice!

Just a reminder for those who travel only by public transportation, the hotel is a bit far from Karuizawa Station and the last public bus is quite early (around 3~4 pm if I remember correctly).

We are a gp of 9 ppl with 4 kids and we stayed here for 2 days! The house is in good condition and the kids enjoy the time here in the house. Karuizawa's weather is gd, even it is the hottest mth during the year, while Tokyo was 37 degree Celsius, it was just around 28 there in Karuizawa. And, it is close to Karuizawa Vegetable Kokopelli and some other sightseeing spots.

It's a bit too far and the reception is hard to access.The pool is not clean and with bugs, though the kids are happy with it! We booked a villa with 3 bedrooms but it only with one bathroom, so we have to queue for bath at nite.
